Hair PRP treatment context at MHB Clinic London for regenerative hair care

PRP uses a concentration of your own platelets to support thinning hair. Exosome treatments use growth-factor rich preparations aimed at scalp and follicle signalling. Neither replaces a transplant for advanced bald areas, but both can support early loss or sit alongside a surgical plan at MHB Clinic.

If your hair is thinning but you are not ready for surgery, two clinic options come up constantly: PRP and exosomes. Both are non-surgical. Both aim to support the scalp environment and existing follicles. They are not interchangeable, and neither is a magic fix for a Norwood pattern that needs grafts.

Here is how we explain the difference at MHB Clinic in London, so you can walk into a consultation knowing what each is for.

What is Hair PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is made from a small sample of your own blood. The platelet-rich portion is prepared and placed into the scalp where thinning is active. Because it is autologous, it uses your biology rather than a donor product.

PRP suits people with early to moderate thinning who still have miniaturising hairs to support. It is also used around transplant journeys when your surgeon recommends it as part of aftercare or native-hair support.

What are hair exosomes?

Exosome protocols used in hair clinics focus on concentrated signalling components intended to support follicle and scalp communication. At MHB we offer Hair Exosomes and MCT Exosomes within a medical consultation framework, not as a spa add-on.

They may be considered when a regenerative course fits your diagnosis and when we want options beyond PRP alone. Suitability, product choice and spacing are confirmed in person.

PRP vs exosomes comparison

Neither column wins for every patient. Your pattern of loss decides.

When a transplant is the better next step

If an area is smooth and bare, regenerative treatments cannot grow hair where the follicle is gone. FUE (or FUT when indicated) moves your own permanent follicles into that zone. PRP or exosomes may still support surrounding hair afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Is PRP better than exosomes for hair loss?
It depends on your pattern of loss, medical history and goals. PRP is well established as a patient-derived treatment. Exosomes are chosen when a regenerative signalling approach fits your plan. We do not push one product for everyone.
Can PRP or exosomes replace a hair transplant?
No. Where follicles are gone, surgery moves living grafts. Regenerative treatments support existing hair and scalp quality. Many patients use both in a staged plan.
How many PRP sessions will I need?
Courses often run over several sessions spaced weeks apart, then maintenance if you respond. Exact timing is set after assessing your scalp at MHB Clinic.
Are hair exosomes available in London?
Yes. MHB Clinic offers Hair Exosomes and MCT Exosomes as part of our regenerative menu on Regent Street, alongside PRP, PRF and surgical options.
